The Truth about Procrastination and how to overcome it.

Do you ever find yourself putting off tasks until the last minute? Do you feel like you're always busy, but never seem to get anything done? If so, then you are not alone. Procrastination is a common problem that many people face. In this blog post, we will discuss the causes of procrastination and how to overcome it.

When it comes to procrastination, we often think of it as something that we do intentionally. We're putting off doing something because we don't want to do it or because we're lazy. But the truth is, there's usually a lot more to it than that. In many cases, procrastination is actually caused by fear. We're afraid of failing, or of not being good enough. So instead of facing our fears head-on, we take the easy way out and avoid them altogether.

For some, it may be because they are perfectionists and want everything to be perfect before they start. Others may feel overwhelmed by a task and don't know where to start. And for others, it may simply be a bad habit that they've developed over time.

Whatever the reason, procrastination can have negative consequences. It can lead to stress, anxiety, and even depression. If you're someone who struggles with procrastination, then it's important to find ways to overcome it.

If you find yourself struggling with procrastination, here are a few things you can do to overcome it:

- Figure out why you're procrastinating.
This is the first and most important step. If you don't know why you're avoiding something, it will be very difficult to overcome that urge. - Identify your fears. What is it that you're afraid of? Once you know what your fears are, you can start to address them.

- Seek support.
Sometimes it helps to talk to someone who understands what you're going through. Find a friend, family member, or therapist who can help you work through your fears and overcome procrastination. Just voicing your worries can really help. Sometimes we just overthink things.

-Rationalise

List all the reasons why this task is so important and why it needs to get finished. This could be the one thing that is going to drive your business forward and you are letting it get in your way of success.

-Commit to getting it finished
Add a note in your planner on the day that you plan will have completed the task and will be free from worry. Look forward then to the relief and freedom of not having this hanging over you. This is powerful.

- Make a plan.
Once you know why you're procrastinating, make a plan of action to address the issue head-on. Use your planner to plan your next steps.

-Set realistic goals and deadlines.

When you have a clear goal in mind, it will be easier to get started and stay on track. Use your goal planner to keep a record of your goals.

-Break down big tasks into smaller, more manageable steps.

Focusing on one small task at a time will make the overall goal seem less daunting.

-Eliminate distractions.

Turn off your phone, log out of social media, and find a quiet place to work.

-Ask for help.

This is so simple and yet we suffer in silence thinking we have to do everything ourselves when it may just be better or easier to outsource. It is so easy to outsource today with sites like Fiverr and Upwork. You may even have a friend or relative who may be able to offer a different perspective.

-Get in the right mindset.

Remind yourself that you can do this and that you're capable of completing the task at hand. Don’t et this get the better of you and stop your success.

-Give yourself a reward when you complete the task.

-Start now.

The sooner you get started, the easier it will be to keep going.

If you're struggling with procrastination, know that you're not alone. But with a little effort and perseverance, you can overcome it. Just take things one step at a time and don't forget to give yourself a pat on the back when you accomplish something great!
